The fee follows the session, not the size of the dispute. Half day, full day, or virtual — the amount and the cancellation terms are confirmed in writing before anything is reserved.
Half-day session
A focused morning or afternoon when the dispute can be framed, discussed, and — if the parties choose — resolved in a single sitting.
Full-day session
For multi-party, coverage, or commercial matters that need time in both joint session and confidential caucus.

FAQ
Before you book the day.
Does the mediator decide the case?
No. Michael serves as a neutral. The parties control the outcome. If they do not resolve the dispute, the case continues in court. Mediation is a chance to evaluate risk and choose a resolution — not a substitute for a ruling.
Is the mediation confidential?
Mediation communications are confidential under Florida law, subject to the exceptions in the Mediation Confidentiality and Privilege Act. What is said in a private caucus is not shared with the other side unless that party authorizes it.
Who should attend?
Counsel, and the people with authority to settle. When insurance is involved, the carrier representative with authority should be present or immediately available. Parties may attend in person or, when arranged in advance, by video.
Where do sessions take place?
The practice is based in Jacksonville Beach. In-person mediations can be held there or at another location the parties agree on. Virtual sessions are available for attorneys and litigants throughout Florida.
What should we send beforehand?
A short confidential submission: the essential facts, the legal and practical issues, and what a workable resolution could look like. Send what the other side should see to them. Send what should stay in caucus only to the mediator.
What kinds of disputes do you mediate?
Circuit civil matters, including personal injury and negligence, business and commercial disputes, insurance coverage and claims, employment, real estate and property, and other general civil cases pending in Florida circuit courts.
How are fees set?
Fees are based on the session — half day, full day, or virtual — not on the size of the dispute. The amount, the format, and the cancellation terms are confirmed in writing before the date is reserved.
Does contacting the office create an attorney-client relationship?
No. Michael J. Kelley is a Florida attorney and a certified mediator. In a mediation he serves as a neutral. A scheduling request does not make him your lawyer, and nothing on this site is legal advice.
